Statik Joints Tasty Treats This Week!!

Since 2008, Mr. Sonny James aka Statik of Illvibe Collective held a dedicated crowd at The Walnut Room every Saturday for his Next Movement party. In addition Statik hosted various collaborative WR events with MC Elixir and Brendan Bringem. The mission on each of these nights was to display Statik's growing tastes in music and cater to a diverse crowd without rules driving the vibe of the party. Statik further explains "We wanted the people to feel comfortable as though they were at a friend's house party. underground, mainstream, old school, trap, etc. are divisive categories that don't mean much to me. I just love good parties." 4 years later, he concluded his Walnut Room run at the end of 2012 with a line around the block and full house of sweaty attendees waiting to hear what would be played next.

2013 is here and the time has come for change. With Walnut Room closing its doors for good, Sonny James joins the iconic Tasty Treats crew to bring some Illvibe flavor to an already legendary party. Kicking off its 12th year, the Tasty team is expanding and going back to rocking every Saturday night at Fluid nightclub. DJs Mike Nyce, Statik, Stacey "Flygirrrl" Wilson, and Yahmean Allworld aim to bring Philadelphia more classic nights and create some new memories.

Expect to hear current and classic hip-hop, reggae, dancehall, classics, funk, soul, and more. Each week the crowd can enjoy $3 drink specials until midnight and ladies are free until 11.

Tastytreats is a legendary Philadelphia nightlife experience. Created in 2001, Stacey “Flygirrl” Wilson, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Yameen Allworld set out to start something different for Philly nightlife. Tastytreats came to life. A dance party spanning 12 years that has featured heavyweights such as Dj Jazzy Jeff, Questlove, Q-Tip, Premier & Guru, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Biz Markie, Cash Money, 9th Wonder, Scratch of EPMD, Rich Medina and many more in addition to their resident Dj Mike Nyce. The party has catered to amazing music and an electric dance floor. And now, it’s time to turn it up.

This past weekend DJ Premier kicked off the launch and this Saturday, January 12th, the crew brings in their new partner, Mr. Sonny James to rock the party. And the rest is history.
