Philly DJ Day... Behind the scenes pics.

Last Wednesday, over 100 of Philly's best djs desended on a mansion in Fairmount park for an afternoon of networking, angry golfers, giant trees and posing for pictures. This was the first Philadelphia DJ Day photo shoot. Here are some flicks (photos by lil'dave).

CityPaper's Best of Philly

Best Thing You Slept On
What happened? Two of the most talented DJ crews in the city, IllVibe and Skratch Makaniks came together to throw Ill Makaniks — a monthly party down at The Barbary, and somehow it flatlined. Maybe it was the weeknight, the location or just people not wanting to pay. Wait, the jawn was free. Sigh. —Deesha Dyer

DJs with the Most Passport Stamps
Sometimes you have to pack a bag to make the big money grab. Globetrotting DJs Statik, Cosmo Baker and Skeme know that. Individually, these three have traveled to over 30 countries in the last 8 months, including Hong Kong, South Africa and Finland. Represent! —Deesha Dyer

Video Game DJs

(This picture isn't DJ Hero)

Word is that the makers of the insanely popular Guitar Hero are in the works for a DJ Hero game. Let’s hope they can pull this off with some authenticity. Nothing is worse then weak attempts at bringing the art of djing into mainstream culture. Let's see what happens.

Waajeed & PPP back again.

The Platinum Pied Pipers' Triple P album was definitely in heavy rotation for us when that dropped a few years back, so the news that they have a new cd dropping has us hungry for more. They now go by PPP and the album, which is dropping next year, is called Abundance.

Waajeed and the crew stopped by Benji B's show on BBC 1xtra last night. They basically took over the show and dropped a ton of PPP exclusives and unreleased Waajeed tracks.

New sounds for you to see.

Big up to everyone who checked us out as we played all over town this past weekend.

Let's kick off the week with a feel good tune by two artists we are always checking for. Here is the video to Mr. Scruff's new single "Music Takes Me Up" featuring vocals by Alice Russell. Any video with singing lemons has to be good!
